Sydney Weekend ("we", "the app") helps people discover and share weekend outing ideas around Sydney. This page explains what information we collect, why we use it, and how you can control it. We do not sell personal information, serve behavioural advertising, or track you across other companies' apps or websites.
When you create or use an account, we process your email address, display name, Sydney Weekend user ID, and, if you choose Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, the account identifier that provider gives us. We use this information to identify your account, display your profile, and secure your session. We do not receive or store your Google or Apple password.
We store posts, photos, videos, comments, profile information, and other content you choose to provide so that the app can operate. Public content is visible to other users; private content is visible only as described in the app. A location you attach to a post is stored with that post and may be displayed with it.
If you grant location permission and use Nearby or travel-time features, the app sends your current precise coordinates to our servers to find nearby places and calculate walking, public-transport, or driving estimates. Location may also be used to help you choose a place when publishing. We do not continuously collect location in the background. You can deny or revoke location permission in iOS Settings, although location-based features may then be unavailable.
We process search terms and in-app interactions such as views, taps, dwell time, likes, saves, shares, and feature usage to operate the service, measure reliability, improve the app, and personalise recommendations when that setting is enabled. The app also creates a random, app-scoped device identifier for analytics before sign-in; it is not an advertising identifier and is not used for cross-app tracking. After sign-in, activity may be associated with your Sydney Weekend user ID. You can turn off personalised recommendations in Settings.
If you enable push notifications, we store an Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device token so we can deliver notifications relevant to your activity. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
We use the following providers only to supply specific app functions:
You can delete your account at any time inside the app: Me › Settings › Delete Account. Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. Your account, sign-in identities, active sessions, drafts, social relationships, reactions, and notification tokens are deleted or disabled, and your posts, comments, and media are removed from public view.
Limited records may remain in an access-restricted form where reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, audit, legal obligations, service integrity, or preservation of historical aggregate results. This can include soft-deleted published content, prior reports or boosts, and a minimal record of the Sydney Weekend user ID and deletion time; the deletion audit does not retain your email address. Residual copies may remain temporarily in restricted backups until they expire under our backup-retention process and are not restored as an active account.
